Facility Dog Wendell III, was born on April 11, 2018, in Santa Rosa, Ca. At eight weeks old Wendell moved to Arkansas where he lived with his puppy raiser for the next eighteen months. During this time he was trained in basic obedience and socialization. Wendell then moved to Texas where he was trained by a professional trainer in over 40 different commands. 

After his professional training, Wendell was then placed with Shawn in June 2020 by Canine Companions for Independence®. Founded in 1975, Canine Companions® is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. 

Wendell is a service trained facility dog that works with clients in a criminal justice setting. He uses his commands and behaviors to mitigate the stress and anxiety of crime victims, witnesses, and others during all stages of the legal proceedings including accompaniment during interviews and court hearings.
